The Beginnings…

The Bread Fairy officially opened for business in April of 2021, however I have been baking for as long as I can remember. My mother and grandmother taught me to bake and always welcomed me into their kitchens. Long before I thought about selling my breads I would bake for friends and family. At one point a friend of mine told me she dreamed for me to have a bakery. I think I laughed.

In 2019 I decided I wanted to take a couple of classes in bread baking to expand my knowledge. I attended the first class in the beginning of March 2020 and my husband immediately went out and bought me 25 lbs. of flour and 2 lbs. of yeast to practice what I learned. As the pandemic of 2020 hit us only a couple of weeks later, I had unexpected time to bake & a pantry full of flour. It was during the that time I started trying my hand with sourdough & natural yeast. With all the bread I was baking I started dropping off bread on friend’s porches and jokingly called myself a Bread Fairy.

The Bread Fairy operates out of my home kitchen in Shrewsbury, MO 63119. I mix and bake small batches of my breads. Everything is baked to order. I bake both naturally yeasted sourdough breads as well as yeast bread and sweet treats.
